Monstrosity
Monstrosity comprises a body of work that was shown in a solo exhibition in San Rafael, California in 2018, rounding out my year-long residency at Art Works Downtown. This series focuses on depictions of gender, sexuality, and otherness in the horror genre, specifically utilizing Mary Shelley’s seminal novel Frankenstein (along with filmic versions of the Frankenstein story) as a starting point for discussions about the correlations drawn between death and women’s sexuality in the horror genre.
